Our Impact Story

Buluzo Foundation was born from a simple but powerful belief: no girl should have to choose between managing her period and living her life. In many communities across Nigeria, menstrual products are a luxury, not a basic need. Girls miss school, stay silent in shame, or use unsafe substitutes, all because of something natural.

In 2023, starting with no external funding and only determination, Buluzo Foundation launched the Menstrual Kit Bank Project, rallying young volunteers and everyday people to contribute. Through collective effort and community trust, enough support was raised to provide menstrual products for over 1,000 girls in low-income communities.

From classrooms in Lagos to schools in Abia, Plateau, and Abuja, girls began receiving not only pads but also education, confidence, and dignity. They learned that menstruation is not a limitation, and their voices matter.

The foundation expanded its approach with:

Art for Change, helping girls express identity and challenge stigma through collaborative art.

Trans-African Dialogue, connecting youth across countries to share perspectives and create continental understanding.

Gen-Z for Change, mobilizing young volunteers to lead, teach, and transform their own communities.

  1. Today, Buluzo Foundation has:

  2. Reached almopst 2000 girls

  3. Mobilized over 50 young volunteers

  4. Built partnerships across regions

Sparked open conversation in spaces where silence once lived

Buluzo Foundation’s impact is not just about distributing pads, it is about protecting education, restoring dignity, building leadership, and shaping a future where girls thrive.

The story is ongoing, and every supporter becomes part of the next chapter.

Buluzo Foundation’s Impact Story

Our Model

  1. We combine access, education, and community empowerment.

  2. We provide free menstrual products and establish Menstrual Kit Banks in schools and correctional centers.

  3. We deliver open, practical menstrual health education for both girls and boys to reduce stigma.

  4. We train student and teacher ambassadors so the knowledge and support continue long after we leave.

  5. We encourage knowledge sharing at a continental level by bringing together menstrual equity champions from across Africa to share their interventions in their respective communities, thereby facilitating problem-solving across the region.
